Full of History and Heart! I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews! The hotel is right on the beachfront — of course, it’s by the ocean, so you might expect some sand, but we didn’t see any! The entire place was spotless. Our room had freshly mopped floors that even smelled of disinfectant — not just wiped for show — no dust anywhere, plenty of clean towels, and beautiful linens. The building dates back to 1931, but it’s in excellent condition and full of character. Staying here feels like being in a small museum filled with history and charm. Everything is done with love and attention to detail, and the staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel truly welcome. Can’t wait to come back!

À la mar is our favorite hotel in Santa Barbara. Melody always helps us out and accommodates us every time. We love coming back because of the amazing location and amenities. We will keep coming back to à la mar every time we visit Santa Barbara.

This was a great location with a wonderful view. The staff was friendly and the room was so comfortable! We got a chance to chat with the owner, and he was quite a nice guy. We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Santa Barbara!

Ala Mar is an absolute gem! It is perfectly situated right on the water with views that are simply hard to beat. I came here for a last-minute weekend trip with my mother, and I will absolutely be staying here again! The Accommodations: Our room was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. We found the inclusion of a mini-fridge and microwave in the room to be a great perk during our stay. The "Sister Property" Perks: One of the best parts about staying here is the full access to their sister property, Villa Rosa Inn, right next door. We spent plenty of time enjoying their picturesque courtyard, including a pool and hot tub. Both were very clean and set to a perfect temperature. The Food & Drink: The hospitality here is top-tier. We thoroughly enjoyed these complimentary offerings in the charming Villa Rosa lobby: Daily Breakfast: Served every morning in the Villa Rosa lobby—a wonderful way to start the day. Daily Happy Hour: We were blown away by the afternoon spread! They offer wine and a fantastic variety of snacks, including cheese, salami, nuts, olives, and even pie. The Service: What truly sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone, including the owner, was incredibly hospitable and welcoming. A special shout-out to Melody at the front desk, who was so friendly and helpful throughout our visit. My mom fell on the sidewalk a few blocks away, so we came to the desk to ask for band-aids. Melody went above and beyond getting a first aid kit and getting bags of ice for my mom throughout the afternoon. Thank you, Melody! We can’t wait to come back. If you want a friendly, coastal getaway with amazing perks, this is the spot!

We had a great time. We booked for two nights first for a very good price and then we asked the man at the reception to stay for two more nights and the price was much higher but he got the manager who right away matched the price we had for the first two nights. We had a very ”homie” cute room. They have a nice terrace overlooking the ocean. Love the happy hour! Breakfast could be better but could be worse.

The Beachfront Hotel Alamar is a hidden gem in Santa Barbara. All of the rooms are steps from the ocean and have a view. My room has a separate patio, and my room is modern and updated. The Alamar shares a pool and jacuzzi with the Villa Rosa Hotel. The Pool area is fantastic with a European flair, tons of art, statues, plants, a koi pond, and a beautiful romantic setting.I enjoyed several hours in the pool area relaxing and connecting with guests. My dog is also welcome here and its an added bonus! I love it here!
